Is there a lack of people so that it is easy to "get in"?

Is C/C++ considered a good starting point (I also know C#, which I think has some features of Object-C not found in C++).

How should I position myself to get in?

How is the money? How is the market organized?

(It is easiest to indicate money-level by comparing to for example VB.NET - with market organization I mean the different way for example PHP and VB.NET is organized, which is useful to know when looking at the money)

Do you have a development background or is this your first job in industry? If it's your first development job, then getting experience is going to be your biggest hurdle. If you are changing programming languages, then escaping your past will be your biggest challenge. In either case, consider kickstarting your career with a short term contract or two. In either case, I wouldn't expect six figure salary with 0 XP. Consider glassdoor.com or salary.com to get a ballpark figure, but count on the lower end of those figures.

Start with Objective-C, that is the language you will use to develop for the iPhone, C# is also an OO language, but unless your working with .NET 4 I wouldn't make much more of a comparsion beyond that.

I lost you on the market organization.
